Community Engagement: Working with Communities, Including BME Groups
Positive Action in Housing is organisin a course on community engagement. This course will explain the key steps to help your organisation to effectively engage with everyone in your areas of operation, particularly with those communities who are historically under-represented or less likely to participate as members, workers or service users.
This session will help you identify the key barriers to engagement and how to overcome them and will allow you to apply your knowledge to practical case studies which will assist you in your day-to-day working environment.
Who should attend?
Anyone involved in tenant participation or community involvement with BME communities. This course is particularly relevant to people working in public and statutory organizations, social work, housing, welfare, education, employment, health, community development or the justice system.
Course Outcomes:
- Understand the challenges to engagement of BME communities and individuals
- Be able to apply the Nationals Standards for Community Engagement effectively for BME engagement
- Be equipped to effectively review and update your organisation’s policy and practice accordingly
