Who are the new arrivals? Using the latest data to work with migrants in Yorkshire
A three-hour workshop organised by the South Yorkshire Migration and Asylum Action Group, Migrants’ Rights Network and the Migration Observatory.
As information from the 2011 Census is released, it is now possible to find out more about the migrant populations in your local area than ever before. Migrant advocates and supporters can all benefit from understanding the available data, and how it can be used to support effective service delivery and advocacy work.
This workshop, delivered by the Migration Observatory and the Migrants Rights Network, is aimed at activists, community organisations and service providers working with migrants. It will:
- Provide an overview of information on migrants in Yorkshire provided by the census and other data sources including the Labour Force Survey.
- Show participants how to access further data on immigration at a regional and national level.
- Discuss the evidence on public opinion on immigration.
- Identify how organisations and service providers can use this data in their work.
The workshop is free and includes lunch. Registration is essential.
